MEET OUR FOUNDER
Angelene Barbados is the brainchild of Alisha Smith, a self-taught artist and designer affectionately known as The Colourist. Over the last decade Alisha's primary creations have been artworks ranging from people and pet portraits to lush florals and Caribbean landscapes, exhibited across the island and shared internationally through her site www.thecolouristart.com. Her artistry is defined by a deep connection to colour, emotion and the natural beauty of her island home, Barbados.
Design and handcrafting however, have always been quietly part of her life. Growing up surrounded by blooming gardens, sewing supplies and a mother whose love for both inspired her own, she developed a lifelong fascination with beauty and creative expression in all its forms.
Angelene Barbados is the natural extension of the founder's creative adventure. What began as a childhood passion for crafting has blossomed into a brand where the love of art, design and laughter converge into wearable collection pieces and a mission to share and celebrate meaningful and joyous moments with a community of women who live and flourish gracefully together.

our Brand Story
Surrounded by fabric and thread, our founder grew up mesmerized by the hum of her mother’s sewing machine and the quiet rhythm of creation. She later discovered that her late grandmother had worked in a sewing factory, connecting her across generations to a lineage of women who gracefully shaped beauty with their hands.
As a young girl, Alisha sewed her own school uniforms and pouches, where she delighted to feature her favourite colour hot pink for the pockets or interior - a playful touch that she had no idea would become Angelene’s signature almost a decade later. That same playful, intentional spirit now guides every piece of Angelene Barbados. Today, each piece is handcrafted and symbolizes legacy, innovation, and artistry.
In a world of fast fashion and the ordinary, the Angelene way is about noticing the extraordinary in everyday life, living artfully and cherishing things that bring a spark of delight and wonder.
